You can accumulate queue points in the student queue and apply for a student apartment from your 18th birthday. When you register for the HFAB student queue, you will also be placed in our housing queue for regular apartments. If you are already registered in the HFAB housing queue for regular apartments, you may, on your 18th birthday, activate your place in the student queue.
You will get one queue point for every day you are in the queue. Queue points are always reset to zero when you move into an HFAB apartment. This applies even if you swap one apartment for another.
Your queue points will not be reset to zero when you move out from an HFAB apartment. If you move out from a student flat queue points are always reset to zero.
Two ways to get a student apartment
There are two ways to get a student apartment, by lottery or via student queue points. Student apartments via queue points are offered to the applicant with the most queue points, provided that HFAB’s basic requirements for student apartments are met. When student apartments are assigned by lottery, everyone applying for an apartment has the same chance since a computer system selects the queue order.
Before a semester starts (occupancy dates February 1, September 1, and October 1), lottery is used to assign most of the available HFAB student apartments. Note! From October 1, you must upload your letter of acceptance to Halmstad University in order to accept an apartment that is offered to you. You’ll find the upload feature under My Pages.

You're allowed a maimum of three applications at any one time in the student queue. If, after a viewing, you decline or fail to reply on a total of three occasions within a two-month period, you will be barred from applying for student apartments for two months; however, you continue to accumulate queue points even during this period. You must always be able to show proof of studies to sign a student apartment agreement. Student apartments are designed for one to two people.
